Content & Community Policy
This is the rulebook for what you can post on Homjo — listings, requests, offers, profiles, messages, ratings and reports. It applies to every pillar (Stay, Market, Services, Transport, Community, Launchpad). Posting on Homjo means agreeing to it; it forms part of the Terms of Service.
The short version
Post real things, describe them honestly, treat people decently, and don't use Homjo for anything illegal. Most of this page is just that, spelled out.
What you can't post
Illegal content. Anything whose posting or sale is unlawful in Ireland. In the Market pillar this specifically includes weapons, fireworks, alcohol, tobacco and vapes, prescription medicines, and live animals — these categories are blocked at posting time and cannot be listed.
Discrimination. Listings and messages must not discriminate on the protected grounds of the Irish Equal Status Acts — see the Equality Statement. "No [nationality]" or "professionals only, no HAP" accommodation ads are the classic examples; they are screened for in 13 languages before publication.
Dishonesty. No misrepresenting what you're offering, no fake listings, no impersonation, no fake urgency or fabricated credentials, and no pretending to be a private seller when you are a business. Some categories require true declarations to post at all (for example HSE registration status for food, Safe Electric registration for regulated electrical work).
Unregistered short lets. A Stay listing for under 31 nights must carry a valid Fáilte Ireland short-term letting registration number; without one it is hidden automatically until the number is added.
Harassment and abuse. No threats, hate, sexual harassment, or targeting of other users, in any surface including private messages.
Spam and manipulation. No repetitive posting, off-platform lead harvesting, scraping, review manipulation, or circumventing rate limits and quotas.
Other people's content and data. Don't post content you have no right to post, or other people's personal information. If your copyright or other rights have been infringed, use the report form (choose "Intellectual-property infringement") or email legal@homjo.com.
How moderation works
Listings, listing photos, profile bios, offers and Provider Studio content are checked before they are published, in layers:
- A deterministic filter screens text against known discrimination and prohibited-goods patterns. Unambiguous matches on listings are blocked or hidden until a person reviews them.
- AI-assisted review catches what fixed patterns can't. Images are scanned automatically; if scanning is unavailable, uploads are refused rather than waved through.
- Humans oversee the queue, and every automated decision can be appealed to a human.
Private messages and Services requests are not blocked before sending. They are checked for the same discrimination patterns and a match is logged for review; anyone can report a message or request from the item itself. Ratings are not screened before they appear; they can be reported and are covered by this policy.
Paying for a Boost or a subscription never exempts content from any of this.
Ratings and reviews
A rating can only be left by the person who booked, after the booking's time has passed. Ratings must describe your own experience. Do not offer or accept anything in exchange for a rating, rate your own listing through another account, or use a rating to harass. Homjo does not remove a rating for being negative.
AI-generated images
Homjo offers an optional tool that generates a cover image from your listing fields. When you choose Use this image, it becomes part of your listing content and these rules apply to it exactly as they do to a photo you upload. Because generative tools can occasionally produce imagery that is unlawful, misleading, or could cause harm or distress to a person or group, Homjo may remove or replace an AI-generated image — or take down the listing carrying it — without your prior consent. When we do, you receive the same statement of reasons and appeal route described below. You can always replace a removed AI image with your own photo or a template.
What happens when content breaks the rules
Depending on severity: the content is blocked from publication, taken down, or your account is restricted or removed. When we restrict your content or account, you receive a statement of reasons explaining what rule was applied, whether automated means were involved, and why, as required by the EU Digital Services Act — and you can appeal it from the notice in your dashboard or by email.
- Report content: the report form or report@homjo.com
- Appeal a decision: from the notice in your dashboard, or appeals@homjo.com
Repeated or serious violations lead to account removal, as described in the Terms.
A listing Homjo holds for a provider with their permission (see How Listings Get Onto Homjo) can also be taken down at the provider's request. That is a withdrawal, not a moderation decision, and no statement of reasons is issued for it.
